Men Art Selection
From 1888 to 1890 Vincent Van Gogh lived here in Saint Remy de Provence and the nearby town of Arles. Thanks to his unique approach to light and the people he met here, Van Gogh has been written in to the pages of art history forever.
It's moving to realise Van Gogh was setting up his ezel on the path just outside our front door, painting the same Alpilles we look out on today. Those paintings today are admired in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam. http://www3.vangoghmuseum.nl/vgm/index.jsp?lang=en
As Van Gogh was wandering the streets of Saint Remy de Provence with under his arms the Iris, Stars at night and Sunflowers paintings few believed in his talent!
The idea behind Men Art Selection is to support the modern day Vincent's. The great talents of tomorrow (access to the Arts Picture Gallery).
All our artists have chosen this difficult profession out of a genuine passion for art. The artists are all graduates of well known art schools like the l'Ecole des Beaux Arts d'Aix en Provence.
What binds this group of artists is a common theme. Their works depict the human interactions with their natural daily environment which is inhuman and confrontational. In what might be an urban setting, the confrontation with publicity and the daily stream of information takes place...
We are presenting their work on the Salon International d Art Contemporain Lineart in Gent from 5 to 9 December 2008.
